First United Church of Christ offers several different music programs…

The Chancel Choir is open to all singers seventh grade through adult and meets each Thursday at 6:30 PM to practice.  The choir sings each Sunday morning from September through June and for special services throughout the church year.  We also prepare and present a special Christmas music program each year in December and we cordially invite singers to join us who may not be able to participate in choir the rest of the year.   We welcome new singers any time throughout the year. 

Each week during Sunday School, the children come to the Music Room where they learn new and old songs of praise.  This music time provides an opportunity for children to sing together and occasionally prepare special music for worship during the year.     

The Acclamation Bell Choir plays three octaves of hand-bells and performs several times during the year.  We always welcome new ringers.  Practice times are flexible (we currently meet at 7:30 PM on Thursdays) and a musical background is a plus but not a requirement. 

Our church also has a Genesis Bell Choir, where the age varies from 6 to approximately 12 years of age.  The Genesis Bell Choir usually performs during the Easter and Christmas seasons.  No prior musical experience is necessary.

First UCC also has a Contemporary Christian group, Work in Progress.  WIP consists of three teens…Sarah Figard, Becky Deatrich and Cydney Van Dyke.  The girls sing during worship once a month and also sing at many functions outside of the church.  Work in Progress is under the direction of Gail Kerschner.
